Piffaro: Back Before Bach

Piffaro, the Renaissance wind band, returns to Seattle to make Town Hall ring with its full array of shawms, sackbuts, dulcians, krumhorns, drums, and bagpipes. The program presents two centuries of wind band instruments and music, including ancient chants set to Renaissance polyphony by Isaac, Finck, and Maher; hymns by Walther, Luther, and Praetorius; and virtuosic instrumental displays on popular tunes by Obrecht, Brummel, and others.
