Mascagni – Cavalleria Rusticana

Turiddu, a soldier returning home from war, learns that his fiancé, Lola, has married Alfio. Acting out of revenge, he seduces Santuzza. Lola, still in love with Turridu, convinces him to engage in an affair with her as well. A wild story of love, lust and jealousy which culminates in a duel to the death, Mascagni’s opera includes some of the most stirring and dramatic music in opera. Sung in Italian with supertitles in English and Italian, Cavalleria Rusticana will be performed concert style with a full cast of soloists, chorus and a 10 piece chamber orchestra. Featuring Gino Lucchetti, Charles Robert Stephens, Victoria Chaussee, Regina Thomas, and Katie Stevenson. The ensemble will be accompanied by musical director John Burkhardt on piano with commentary by Artistic Director Regina Thomas.
