Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings is widely considered to be the jewel in the crown of string orchestra literature, one of the most moving and lyrical pieces the composer ever wrote. This varied program will also feature works by Baroque masters Henry Purcell and Antonio Caldara, and two contrasting 20th-century masterpieces by Paul Hindemith and Toru Takemitsu.
