Sarah Viens is Principal Trumpet of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Auburn Symphony, and the Eugene Symphony. She is Instructor of Trumpet at the University of Oregon where she is a member of the Oregon Brass Quintet. Sarah frequently performs with the Oregon Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater, and the Portland Opera. She is Second Trumpet with the Sunriver Music Festival, and often plays with the Oregon Bach Festival. Sarah is co-founder of Orchestra Next- the resident orchestra with the Eugene Ballet. As its artistic administrator, she serves as personnel and operations manager, librarian, and principal trumpet. Sarah holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, B.M., Temple University, M.M., and the University of Oregon, (A.B.D). Sarah has studied with Michael Sachs, James Darling, Brian McWhorter, Jeffrey Curnow, David Bilger, Rick Pressley, and John Falskow. Originally from Lakewood Washington, Sarah began her orchestral career with the Tacoma Youth Symphony under the tutelage of Dale Johnson and Dr. Paul Cobbs.
