Ludwig van Beethoven – String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132
This performance features one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s last monumental achievements, his String Quartet in A minor, known for its radiant autobiographical slow movement. Also included is a lovely impressionist-hued piece by Spanish composer Joaquín Turina, La Oración del Torero, Op. 34 (“The Bullfighter’s Prayer”). Featuring violinists Eric Rynes and Pamela Liu, violist Thane Lewis, and cellist Michael Center; all are principal players and concerto soloists for, respectively, the Northwest Symphony, Cascade Symphony, Symphony Tacoma, and Lake Union Civic Orchestras, and they’ve each performed a wide range of solo and chamber works in the US and abroad.
