A recital for voice, presented by University of Washington School of Music DMA student Christopher Benfield.

About the Artist
Christopher Benfield is a classical vocalist (baritone) who is currently in his first year at the University of Washington to pursue doctoral studies in vocal performance under the instruction of Dr. Kari Ragan. At 24, Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York studying under the tutelage of Ms. Lucille Beer. In addition, he holds a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam in Potsdam, New York. 

After moving to Seattle and teaching for two years in elementary education, he is a member of the Seattle Symphony Chorale and sits as an active member of its council. Christopher has a passion for aesthetics, and incorporates studies of this subject in all educative and creative endeavors. He has brought his passion for art songs, mélodie, and lieder into his teaching and performance, and focuses on the intense, intimate experience of vocalist and piano.
