Adam Stern, Music Director of the Seattle Philharmonic and the Sammamish Symphony and a Grammy Award winning recording producer, will give us a rare and interesting glimpse into the creative process of conducting an orchestra. Adam will share his fascinating experiences, the ways in which a conductor obtains a performance from an orchestra, collaborations with soloists, and interactions with some of the major names in the music world. Stern will also share anecdotes about some of the world's leading conductors, including Leopold Stokowski, George Szell, and Leonard Bernstein. Adam will illustrate his talk with musical quotations played on the piano. A unique opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes rehearsing, performing, and recording the orchestra music we love.
