Dinu LipattiSonatina for Violin and Piano
Ludwig van Beethoven — Selected works
Johann Sebastian Bach — Selected works
Béla Bartók — Selected works
George Gershwin — Selected works

Featuring works by Lipatti, Beethoven, Bach, Bartók, and Gershwin.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, Lipatti fulfilled a startling variety of roles – pianist, composer, teacher and critic – before his untimely death from cancer at age 33. Posthumously elected to the Romanian Academy, Lipatti brought outstanding contributions to classical music interpretation and composition. His pianism demonstrated an ideal synthesis of a composer's analytical insight and expressive inwardness.

Internationally acclaimed violinist and pianist Alexandru Tomescu (violin) and Angela Draghicescu (piano) pay tribute to Dinu Lipatti in an exquisite chamber concert featuring works by Beethoven, Bach, Bartok, and Gershwin as well as the Seattle premiere of Dinu Lipatti’s rarely performed Sonatina for Violin and Piano. This event is presented by the American Romanian Cultural Society in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute New York and with the support of the Romanian American Society of Washington State (RO-WA).

Tickets: $35.50 general, $25.50 seniors
