Emerald City Music – a brand new chamber music series in Seattle – presents "Darkness Visible", an intimate evening of chamber music exploring the walking the musical boundaries between England and France.
Opening with Debussy's moody Sonata for Cello and Piano, the program continues with Thomas Ades's Darkness Visible, reimagining John Dowland's lute song, "In Darknesse Let Mee Dwell" (1610). Dutilleux's breathy and lyrical Sonatine for Flute and Piano is followed by Britten's majestic Suite for Violin and Piano. The program ends with Ravel's Piano Trio, an exotic and precise chamber music masterwork.
