Maurice Duruflé – Requiem, Op. 9

For the Feast of All Souls, also known as the Feast of Faithful Departed, all are invited for a memorial Eucharist, at which we will remember and celebrate the lives of those who have gone before us to the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Epiphany Choir will sing the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful and most frequently performed settings. Written for soloists, choir, and organ, the work features lush harmonies, fluid chant-like lines, and a virtuoso organ part. The complete Requiem will be offered in the context of the Mass, as it was intended to be heard.

In the fall of 2016, the Epiphany Seattle Music Guild was launched as an outreach arm of the parish. The Music Guild curates the presentation of music in the sacred spaces of Epiphany Seattle, inviting well-known musicians and groups to perform. The Music Guild publicizes these events to the greater Seattle area in order to champion sacred music in sacred spaces and enrich the lives of music-lovers everywhere.

About Music at Epiphany

Epiphany Seattle is fortunate to have an outstanding choir, a strong music staff, beautiful instruments, and wonderful spaces in which to make music. Music is a core strength of Epiphany, and we strive to uphold a standard of excellence in all of our musical offerings – both in terms of repertoire and performance. Our Music at Epiphany board was created to uphold that excellence, provide vision for the music program, and to sponsor world class concerts for our community. We hope that you will learn more about our musical life, and join us for a choral service or concert.
