Pamela Z – Twenty Answers
fivebyfive presents “Composer Chats,” bringing together music, animation, discussions, and a chance to join in an interactive performance over the course of five online events. These programs will take place on Saturday afternoons throughout the winter and spring, starting February 27th at 1:30pm Eastern / 10:30am Pacific (and continuing Saturdays at 1:30pm Eastern / 10:30am Pacific on March 27th, April 4th, May 22nd, and June 5th).
Things get started on February 27th with Twenty Answers by composer/performer and media artist Pamela Z. In a time when the future is hard to predict, Twenty Answers leads 5 musicians on a journey whose path is determined by the answers of a Magic 8 ball.
The series will continue with music written and adapted for virtual performances by Sungmin Shin and Sophie Stone (March 27th), the video premiere of a new work by Miguel del Aguila (May 22nd), and a new animated video with music by Anthony R. Green (April 24th). Green will discuss his work as founder of Castle of our Skins, an organization that champions classical music by Black composers. The final program tying the series together will be an open performance of Pauline Oliveros’s Tuning Meditation on Zoom, with an invitation for participants from around the world, regardless of musical background (June 5th).
