George Frideric Handel — Selected works
Antonio Caldara — Selected works

Alexander Weimann, harpsichord

Enjoy an intimate evening of music presented jointly by Folio and Early Music Seattle. Alexander Weimann, keyboard virtuoso and music director of Seattle Baroque Orchestra, will present a performance exploring the lost art of improvisation.

While improvisation was an everyday skill for musicians in the 18th century, it now plays virtually no role in a modern classical musician’s education or professional practice. Alex Weimann will connect the worlds of composition and improvisation by starting with works by George Frideric Handel, Antonio Caldara, and others, then departing into free improvisation inspired by the great composers. He will discuss his process with the audience, sharing the special skills and unique perspective of the 18th century mind.

Information and how to RSVP for a complimentary wine reception can be found by emailing rsvp@folioseattle.org.
