On the surface, Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore is a love story full of silliness and infectious tunes. Look beyond that to discover a timeless tale of class struggle and a dash of incompetent leadership.
Director Phil Lacey and musical director Bernard Kwiram have assembled a talented cast and orchestra who will be a joy to watch. The Cornish Playhouse space doesn’t have a bad seat in the house, and the redesigned sets and on-stage orchestral placement bring a fresh look to this classic.
