Felix Mendelssohn – String Quartet No. 4 in E minor, Op. 44, No. 2
Dorothy Rudd Moore – Modes (livestream premiere)
William Grant Still – Lyric Quartette

Sound Off: Music for Bail presents an online livestreamed concert in music of Felix Mendelssohn (String Quartet No. 4 in E Minor), Dorothy Rudd Moore (Modes), and William Grant Still (Lyric Quartette) in collaboration with the famed Williamsburg community museum and civic organization The City Reliquary and house concert organization Groupmuse.

Our musicians for this concert – violinists Giancarlo Latta and Njioma Grevious, violist Jay Julio, and cellist Thapelo Masita – will perform masterworks of the repertoire interspersed by readings by Brooklyn-based poet Kyle Carrero Lopez sharing both his own work and the seminal work of thinkers and writers on the topic of abolition, in all of its meanings, between movements of pieces.

We particularly look forward to the livestream premiere of Modes by longtime New Yorker and cofounder of the Society of Black Composers Dorothy Rudd Moore. This 1968 work has been played before but not recorded in full in an easily accessible fashion. We invite you to join in a brief moment of history-making with us!

The livestream will take place at 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific. Broadcasting live from City Reliquary, Brooklyn, NY.

RSVP for details/livestream link.

$10+ minimum payment to musicians, $3 reservation fee.
