Enjoy an evening of masterpieces as classical pianist Colin Wood celebrates the release of his new album Impressionist Virtuosos by performing works by impressionist composers Isaac Albéniz and Maurice Ravel. First on the program are three pieces from Isaac Albéniz’s suite inspired by the sounds of Spain, Iberia. Next on the program is Beethoven’s late Piano Sonata No. 30, Op. 109. This work was composed in 1820, but anticipates some of the compositional techniques of the impressionist era. Finally, Maurice Ravel’s baroque-style suite dedicated to his friends lost in World War I, Le Tombeau de Couperin.
