Nathan Chan, cello

There’s something about watching a professional play an instrument that makes us all go, “huh, he makes that look so easy!” Cellist Nathan Chan, member of the Seattle Symphony, takes us on a behind-the-scenes preview of life as a musician.

Emerald City Music's "Wine Down Monday" events occur virtually via Zoom. Each weekly event features a social, casual format where listeners are encouraged to chat with the artists and each other. Events are hosted by an Emerald City Music representative. Bring your own drink of choice! Events start promptly at 7pm Pacific.

About Nathan Chan

Cellist Nathan Chan made his musical debut at age three conducting the San Jose Chamber Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony and The Royal Philharmonic, among others and was hailed by San Francisco Chronicle’s Joshua Kosman for his "profound technical gift and... his mastery of musical narrative." Chan was a chosen artist for Fondation Louis Vuitton's Classe d'Excellence du Violoncelle with renowned cellist Gautier Capuçon. Nathan earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Columbia University and has a growing internet presence with over 25 million views on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. (@nathanchancello) Nathan studied with Richard Aaron at The Juilliard School, where he earned his Masters of Music. Nathan recently released his first NFT, collaborating with AI Artist Lia Coleman, combining classical music with machine learning art. He is currently Assistant Principal Cello of the Seattle Symphony.
