"The "Spannungen" Festival was always about musicians reacting to the situations they found themselves in," says Lars Vogt, "rethinking and reimagining music to allow audiences to experience it with emotional directness. That aim hasn't changed in our current situation. We want to make music, because it's essential for us! As such, we're delighted to present our Ghost Festival."

To mark 75 years since the liberation of the German concentration camps, this concert begins with a performance of the String Trio by Gideon Klien, who perished in the Fürstengrube subcamp in January 1945. The rarely heard work is performed by Florian Donderer, Barbara Buntrock and Tanja Tetzlaff. The remaining programme is made up of Dvořák's early Piano Trio No. 2 and Brahms's expansive Second Piano Quartet, featuring star-studded line-ups. Between them, Mario Häring performs Helmut Lachenmann's poetic and witty Five Variations on a Theme of Franz Schubert.

The livestream will take place at 11am Pacific.
