Seattle Opera Songs of Summer with Shelly Traverse
Free
Shelly Traverse, soprano
Beth Tankersley, piano
Traverse made her headline-grabbing Seattle Opera mainstage debut in 2018’s Beatrice & Benedict, stepping into the role of Hero at the last minute to great acclaim. The Seattle Times named Traverse as the "scene-stealer" of the performance "charm[ing] the audience with her voice and stage presence, both lovely and unaffected." She returned to McCaw Hall earlier this year as the music-loving Chan Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird. A frequent contributor to the company’s Programs & Parnerships initiatives, Traverse tours Washington state in various family-friendly operatic productions.
Ms. Traverse’s recital program highlights her varied repertoire, including French and American art songs, selections by Stephen Sondheim, and beloved opera arias by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giacomo Puccini.
The livestream will take place at 7pm Pacific.
