Paul Rucker, cello

Multidisciplinary artist and TED Fellow Paul Rucker has developed his own style of cello; he puts chopsticks between his strings, uses the instrument as a drum and experiments with electronics like loop pedals.

In this event, Paul presents Cellotation – "Extended Meditation" – a combination of extended technique with contemplative meditation. Viewers will be encouraged to close their eyes, put on headphones, and meditate with sonic accompaniment.

About this Event
Each of the hour-long events will feature one TED Fellow, enthralling us with their online performance of music, dance, or comedy, followed by a happy hour reception – bring your own wine or healthy drink. Artists will receive 100% of ticket proceeds for their event.

How it Works
Ticket holders will each receive one link for entrance to the artist's performance, and several links to virtual happy hour receptions, making it easy to jump from one party to the next, while keeping the number of people on-screen low so that everyone can join in the conversation. This may not work perfectly to begin with, so we'll ask for your patience.

The livestream will take place at 9pm Eastern / 6pm Pacific.

Note: Livestream concerts are subject to change without notice. If a livestream doesn't take place, we hope you'll visit the performers' website to explore their recorded performances, or discover another group to listen to online!
