Lucas Zeiter is a Pacific Northwest-based bassoonist and teacher. Current positions include principal bassoon of the Puget Sound Symphony, along with substitute bassoon for the Seattle Symphony and the Northwest Sinfonietta. At the University of Washington, he is principal bassoon of the UW Symphony, UW Wind Ensemble, UW Chamber Music Lab, and the UW Modern Ensemble. He has performed with the Seattle Symphony, Sewanee Festival Orchestra, Marrowstone Festival Orchestras & Chamber Ensembles, Bainbridge Symphony, and the Desert Winds Contemporary Ensemble. Most recently, Lucas won the Jacqueline Avent Concerto Competition at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival.
Currently, Lucas is attending the University of Washington in the School of Music where he is earning his Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance. His primary teacher is Seth Krimsky, principal bassoonist of the Seattle Symphony. Lucas has also studied with Janis McKay, Frank Morelli, Ben Kamins, Kristin Wolfe-Jensen, Peter Kolkay, and Francine Peterson. He plays on a Moosmann M24 bassoon. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Lucas is currently living in Seattle, Washington where he enjoys the comfort of rain and delicious food.
