Timoteo Cruz Santos – Misa Oaxaqueña

A new multi-faith concert series entitled Many Voices, One Spirit will begin at Seattle's Trinity Parish Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 22, 2020. All are invited to attend.

In our sometimes divided world, music can be one positive way to share and learn about other traditions. While there are many opportunities to hear music of many cultures in Seattle, there is not so much opportunity to hear music of other faith traditions. The Many Voices, One Spirit project, hosted by Trinity Parish, seeks to give musicians who perform in faith communities a chance to share the music that is so meaningful to their faith. This concert series is open to everyone and will offer three concerts per year, with a different faith tradition represented each time.

Our first concert will be Saturday, February 22, at 7:30 PM in the church. It will feature the Misa Oaxaqueña, presented by the Oaxacan community of Seattle. This colorful and lively mass setting from Oaxaca, Mexico is often used for local and family celebrations. It features musicians, a narrator, dancers, and instruments found in the traditional community banda of Mexico. The Misa will be performed by Grupo Cultural Oaxaqueño and La Banda Gozona. The concert is very family friendly, and we hope that you will mark your calendars and plan to attend this opening event of what promises to be an interesting and meaningful series.

Trinity Parish Episcopal Church is an open and affirming parish and a greening congregation. All our facilities are accessible. Complimentary parking is available in the Skyline garage (enter on Columbia between 8th and 9th).

A free-will offering will be taken for the performers.
