Town Hall Seattle, Seattle, WA, United States

Composer and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain teams up with spoken word artist and arts activist Marc Bamuthi Joseph in Blackbird, Fly, a concert for voice, body, and strings. Together these two American sons of Haitian immigrants explore themes of family history, folklore, politics, and race, all of it coursing with the rhythm and energy of hip hop.

Roumain is a musician without borders, equally at home composing for an orchestra at Carnegie Hall or accompanying Lady Gaga on American Idol. Joseph is a brilliant wordsmith and a captivating performer who got his start acting on Broadway and winning the National Poetry Slam. Coming together in this two-man show developed over years of collaboration, they use all of their virtuosity and vulnerability to drive an evening of powerful soul-searching.

Admission: $20 general, $15 Town Hall members, $10 youth (21 and under), $5 TeenTix members
