Christopher Smith is the 4th /Utility Trumpet with l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal (OSM). For the 2017-2018 season, he is splitting his time between the OSM, where he is currently the acting Associate Principal Trumpet, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle, where he is playing Principal Trumpet. He has also served as Associate Principal Trumpet with the Seattle Symphony, and 2nd Trumpet with the Des Moines Metro Opera. Prior to joining the OSM in 2008, he spent eight years in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, where he performed for the President of the United States and other heads of state at the White House. Christopher recently played Principal Trumpet with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and Grand Rapids Symphony; lead trumpet with MIKA; and has performed with Pink Martini. He has taught at McGill University and led master classes throughout North and South America. His principal teachers include James Thompson at Eastman School of Music and Scott Thornburg at Western Michigan University.
