Featuring music from the Terezin, Lodz, and Vilna Ghettos.

On January 27, 2020, International Holocaust Remembrance Day will coincide with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Music of Remembrance (MOR) presents Art From Ashes, a free community-wide concert marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Music of Remembrance’s stellar ensemble will join forces with some of the region’s most talented youth ensembles – the Northwest Boychoir, the Seattle Girls Choir, and the University of Washington Chamber Orchestra – in a program showcasing remarkable chamber and vocal works created by murdered composers from across Nazi-controlled Europe. These musical treasures remain as a testament to inspiring courage and resilience in a time of unfathomable horrors. They tell stories that resonate today as strongly as ever.

Tickets are free, but required for admission.

About UW Chamber Orchestra

From time to time during the year, the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra may be reduced or split into smaller groups that perform as the UW Chamber Orchestra. Composed of members of the University Symphony, the UW Chamber Orchestra, directed by David Alexander Rahbee, is focused on chamber orchestra, chamber ensemble, and string orchestra repertoire from the Baroque through modern times.
