The Olympia Symphony's "Highways & Byways" season opens with a concert featuring music by three notable American composers. 2018 is the centenary of the great Leonard Bernstein's birth, so in tribute they will perform the peppy Overture to Candide; their 66th season begged programming the energetic Route 66 by Michael Daugherty; and they get off the highway for a back-road amble via Aaron Copland's miniature Down a Country Lane. The evocative La Mer by French composer Claude Debussy will be performed, and they are thrilled to welcome Seattle phenom Felicity James to the Capital City for Glazunov's melodic Violin Concerto.
This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. Concert Co-Sponsor: Olympic Dermatology and Laser Clinic; Guest Artist Sponsor: R.L. Ray Violin Shop
