Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50
Dating back to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's monumental Piano Trio in A minor written in honor of his friend and nationally-treasured pianist Nikolai Rubinstein, Russian composers have used musical composition as a means of accepting tragedy. Nikolai Medtner, whom Sergei Rachmaninoff considered to be the greatest composer of his time, wrote his Sonata Reminiscenza after being forced to leave his home in the wake of the Russian revolution in 1917.
Join the artists for a post-concert question-and-answer session immediately following the performance.
