"I LOVE TWYLA THARP. She is humor, irreverence, craft, and boogie all rolled into one pint-sized woman. Brief Fling takes inspiration from Scotland as dancers pump bagpipes and don plaid with Tharp’s trademark pyrotechnics. Another iconic work, Forgotten Land, inspired by the artwork of Edvard Munch (The Scream), fills the stage with unbridled energy and haunting loss. Completing this 20th century triptych is Stravinsky Violin Concerto which reminds us of Balanchine’s unique and unmatched visualization of Stravinsky’s genius." ~ Peter Boal
