A PCMS favorite for nearly three decades, the peerless Takács Quartet opens its program with the second of Mozart’s “Haydn” Quartets and continues with Dutilleux’s daring and impressionistic Ainsi la nuit, the seven movements of which make striking demands on each player. Concluding the evening is Brahms’s cheerful Quartet in B-flat major, the composer’s personal favorite of the more lighthearted works that he wrote in the summer of 1875.
The livestream will take place at 6pm Eastern / 3pm Pacific. The video will remain available for 72 hours after each performance, subject to the approval of the artists.
