Port Townsend American Legion Post #26, Port Townsend, WA, United States

This is Port Townsend's annual Memorial Day ceremony. The Summer Band will play a series of patriotic pieces prior to the American Legion ceremony, during the ceremony, and – if time permits – after the ceremony.

The band will perform 10 pieces appropriate to the occasion, including marches, an Armed Forces Salute, and two original works written by our own Karl Bach. His piece Quilts of Valor accompanies the presentation of handmade quilts to both active military and veteran men and women who are draped with their individual quilts during the ceremony. Karl will make a guest conducting appearance to put the band through its paces with this piece.

The Port Townsend Summer Band volunteers to perform at this event every year in respect of all who serve. The band does not charge a fee to play, and admission to the concert and ceremony is open and free of charge to all who would like to join us.
