Not your typical Christmas pageant! The Choir School choristers, Cathedral Evensong Choir, and young children of Saint Mark’s join forces in this dramatic telling of the nativity story. Exquisite costumes, visual art displayed within soaring cathedral architecture, and more than 60 skilled choristers, accompanied by instrumentalists and the Flentrop organ, will bring to life the story of the Word made flesh.
This year's pageant includes musical selections by J.S. Bach and Johann Kuhnau; 20th-century works by Peter Warlock (Benedicamus Domino), Herbert Howells (Here is the Little Door), and Egil Hovland (The Glory of the Father); pieces by contemporary composers Jonathan Dove ("Gloria" from the Missa Brevis), Z. Randall Stroope (All My Heart), and Carl Schalk (Before the Marvel of this Night); and a world premiere by local Seattle composer Tyler Morse ("Magnificat" from The Emerald City Service).
A free-will offering will be collected. All are welcome.
