Salish Sea Early Music Festival presents transitional late renaissance/early baroque (mostly Italian) repertoire from the early 17th century, all for two soprano instruments (violin and flute), bass instrument (dulcian) and theorbo or baroque guitar, by Giovanni Battista Buonamente (1595-1642), Giovanni Paolo Cima (1570-1622), Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643), and others; examples of the French chansons from the mid-16th century set the tone for this instrumental genre.

In 2019, the Salish Sea Early Music Festival presents nine performances in Seattle and 84 performances all around the Salish Sea of early chamber music performed on period instruments. The festival has presented countless first performances in modern times of period-instrument renditions of early works, and is proud to be an affiliate organization of Early Music America, which develops, strengthens, and celebrates early music and historically informed performance in North America. Flutist Jeffrey Cohan is the festival’s artistic director.

Tickets: $15 or $20 or $25 suggested donation. Youth 18 and under always free.
