7:30pm – Student recitals
8:00pm – Live audio broadcast from Benaroya Hall

Every Seattle Chamber Music Society Summer Festival concert is broadcast into Seattle Parks where audiences enjoy chamber music in a casual, comfortable environment. The Music Under the Stars series is the perfect event to pack a picnic and bring your friends to the park and listen to these audio-only broadcasts. Before the broadcast and during intermission, talented, local student musicians perform live. Last year, over 2,600 people enjoyed these SCMS broadcasts.

The student recitals begin at 7:30 and the live audio broadcast gets under way at 8pm, with another short student performance during the intermission at Benaroya. This evening, the following live program will be broadcast from Benaroya Hall to the park:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Flute Quartet No. 1 in D major, K. 285
Lorna McGhee, flute / Kristóf Baráti, violin / David Harding, viola / Robert deMaine, cello

Francis Poulenc – Sonata for Violin and Piano, FP 119
James Ehnes, violin / Orion Weiss, piano

Johannes Brahms – Piano Quartet No. 2 in A major, Op. 26
Andrew Wan, violin / Matthew Lipman, viola / Daniel Müller-Schott, cello / Piers Lane, piano

This year, SCMS is expanding from four to five parks! They will continue to offer Music Under the Stars at Columbia Park (Columbia City), Freeway Park (Downtown), Volunteer Park (Capitol Hill), and they are moving to a new West Seattle location – the Seattle Chinese Garden in the Delridge Neighborhood.
