Cellist Nathan Chan joins SMCO for Shostakovich’s fiery Cello Concerto No. 1, alongside music that evokes the human voice in very different ways. Rossini’s famous Overture to The Barber of Seville celebrates operatic drama and comedy, tracks from the American songsmith Sufjan Stevens’ Enjoy Your Rabbit are reimagined here for orchestra, and Tunde Jegede’s Lamentation explores the search for belonging of the African diaspora.
