The Sphinx Competition is a national competition offering young Black and Latinx classical string players a chance to compete under the guidance of an internationally renowned panel of judges, and to perform with and receive mentorship from established professional musicians. Prizes range from $3,000 to the top $50,000 Robert Frederick Smith Prize. The Sphinx Competition is held every year in Detroit, Michigan.

The Sphinx Competition Junior and Senior Division Finals will feature the three Finalists from both the Senior and Junior Divisions. Presented by DTE Energy Foundation, the concert will be available to watch on Sphinx’s website, YouTube Channel, and Facebook page.

The broadcast will take place at 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific.

The Sphinx Competition takes place in conjunction with SphinxConnect 2021: UNITY, running January 28-30. This virtual conference will feature over 70 speakers over three days, exploring topics related to diversity and inclusion in the arts.
