With this, the third installment of the complete songs of Edvard Grieg, Resonance at SOMA Towers and the Northwest Edvard Grieg Society present Laura Loge, soprano, Alan Dunbar, baritone, and Knut Erik Jensen, piano in The Complete Songs of Edvard Grieg: Early Explorations. Beginning with the very first song composed by Edvard Grieg, Laura, Alan, and Knut Erik will present songs by Grieg set to German poetry as well as several opuses composed early in his career, during and after his studies, and prior to his return to Norway. Continue this exploration of Grieg’s complete songs as three specialists in his repertoire guide you through a program of rarely-heard and well-loved songs alike.
This is the third of seven concerts over the next three years presenting the complete songs of Edvard Grieg, sponsored by the Northwest Edvard Grieg Society.
Songs on this concert include Grieg's Op. 2, 4, 15, 18, and 48 as well as EGs 121 and 157, which includes all of Grieg's songs set to German texts.
About Alan Dunbar
Dr. Brian Dunbar, a native of St. Augustine, FL, enjoys performing as a soloist, orchestral performer, and chamber musician, in addition to his activities as a flute instructor. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Louisiana State University, Master of Music from the University of Michigan, and Bachelor of Music from Stetson University. Dr. Dunbar is the Assistant Professor of Flute at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. Previously he held teaching positions at Southern University and A&M College, Southeastern Louisiana University, and Louisiana State University.
