The Drunken Maidens – inspired by groups such as Sweet Honey in the Rock and the Wailin’ Jennys – sing in tight vocal harmonies and play instruments such as fiddle, mandolin, guitar, melodeon, fife, whistle, and percussion. Threads from maritime songs, traditional ballads, old-time and Americana, and folk dance tunes are woven together to produce their colorful and varied repertoire. Their blend of British and American as well as old and new material includes the wistful strains of old-time music, saucy English folksongs, sea songs, sacred music, catchy tunes, and recently-written songs. They will be joined by singer Laura Bassett, a New Hampshire native, who performs both traditional and contemporary sea songs.

This event is free with donations greatly appreciated.
