In this program The Esoterics will sing settings of Sara Teasdale poems There will come soft rains and Places, like music by composer emeritus Donald Skirvin; settings of Longfellow’s My cathedral and Deirdre Lockwood’s Discovery composed by Christina Whitten Thomas; When I close my eyes I dream of peace by Swedish composer Karin Rehnqvist; Observer in the Magellanic Cloud, by Mason Bates, and director Eric Banks’ short piece At all times. Finally, The Esoterics will present the world premiere of Prayers, Joseph Gregorio’s eleven-movement cycle of John Gould Fletcher’s secular humanist prayers. Composers Skirvin, Whitten Thomas, and Gregorio will be present at the concert. Please join us for this inspiring music!
