The Westerlies present the first Seattle edition of their Holiday Bash and Fundraiser – an evening of their favorite holiday music, reinventing the rules of brass with the boundless creativity and dynamic precision for which they are known.

The Westerlies are a 501c3 non-profit organization. Thanks to community support, in the past year the ensemble has reached over 31,000 audience members and 1,300 students across the country. Your presence at this fundraising event enables The Westerlies to continue creating music, teaching the next generation, and making the world a better place.

Expect an inclusive night of holiday celebration and beautiful sounds!

Complimentary beer, wine, and dessert included with admission.

A note on accessibility
The Knife Room at Nordo is a historic underground venue that is only accessible by a staircase. The Knife Room is working on options to make it more accessible (this is costly and difficult in a 125-year-old building), and in the meantime apologizes to those who cannot attend Knife Room events.

About The Westerlies
The Westerlies create a bold and personal chamber music experience imbued with the spirit of improvisation, using their four horns to amplify unheard voices, paint new sonic landscapes, and cultivate a global community.

About The Westerlies

The Westerlies, "an arty quartet...mixing ideas from jazz, new classical, and Appalachian folk" (The New York Times) are a New York-based brass quartet comprised of childhood friends from Seattle: Riley Mulherkar and Chloe Rowlands on trumpet, and Andy Clausen and Willem de Koch on trombone. From Carnegie Hall to Coachella, The Westerlies navigate a wide array of venues and projects with the precision of a string quartet, the audacity of a rock band, and the charm of a family sing-along.

Formed in 2011, the self-described "accidental brass quartet" takes its name from the prevailing winds that travel from the West to the East. "Skilled interpreters who are also adept improvisers" (NPR's Fresh Air), The Westerlies explore jazz, roots, and chamber music influences to create the rarest of hybrids: music that is both "folk-like and composerly, lovely and intellectually rigorous" (NPR Music).
