Joshua Roman, conductor

Every New Beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Whether you believe this to be the words of Roman Philosopher Seneca or the ’90s band Semisonic, the words ring true for our last Town Music concert in the old Great Hall before we begin our future-defining renovation this summer.

Join us as we reprise our collaboration with current members and alumni of Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, alongside professional mentor artists, all conducted by Joshua Roman. The evening will feature works by Reena Esmail, Christopher Theofanidis, Jessie Montgomery, and the world premiere of a new composition by jazz-influenced composer Gregg Kallor – marking our 15th commissioned piece. The New York Times says that Kallor “writes music of unaffected emotional directness. Leavened with flashes of oddball humor, his works succeed in drawing in the listener – not as consumer or worshipful celebrant, but in a spirit of easygoing camaraderie.”

Tickets: $20 general admission, $15 Town Hall members, $10 youth (21 and under), $5 TeenTix members
