STG presents Silent Movie Mondays: Varieté (1925).

Seattle Theater Group commissioned Amy Denio to compose an original sound score for the 1925 hit German silent film Varieté, about a down-and-out trapeze artist. The dynamic & beautiful score will be performed live by the 12-piece Amy Denio Ensemble.

Varieté, directed by E.A. Dupont, stars Emil Jannings and Lya De Putti in Germany's most successful movie of the year. Its melodramatic love triangle between acrobats features cinematographer Karl Freund's innovating "unchained camera technique" at the circus.
