David Sanford – Dream-Visions (world premiere)
Hannah Kendall – Vera
Samuel Coleridge-Taylor – Clarinet Quintet

The title Dream-Visions draws its name from Paul Laurence Dunbar’s Over the Hill poem, which Samuel Coleridge-Taylor set into song. Winsor Music is beyond thrilled to partner with trailblazing organization Castle of Our Skins for this concert. Celebrating historically underrepresented Black artists, this partnership presents Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Clarinet Quintet, Hannah Kendall’s string quartet Vera, and – aiming for “both raucous and exquisitely poised,” as The New York Times critic Seth Colter Walls said of his work – an exciting new co-commission by David Sanford. A special guest from ProjectSTEP will be performing with us as well.

Founded in 1996, Winsor Music is a chamber ensemble based in Boston, Massachusetts that fosters the appreciation and enjoyment of chamber music. Winsor Music organizes a vibrant chamber music concert series, and develops new repertoire by commissioning new works and arranging existing chamber repertoire to include the oboe, clarinet, violin, and cello. In addition, Winsor Music operates an outreach program that brings chamber music to hospitals, retirement communities, schools, rehabilitation centers, and recovery homes. We are also a partner of the Bach Institute, a collaboration with Emmanuel Music and Oberlin College which exposes a new generation of students to Bach arias and outreach performances.

The livestream will take place at 2:30pm Eastern / 11:30am Pacific. Broadcasting live from Pickman Hall at the Longy School of Music, Cambridge, MA.

Free tickets. $10-$15 suggested donation.
