Philip Glass — Selected works
William Bolcom — Selected works

The husband-and-wife piano duo Asta and Dainius Vaičekonis from Lithuania present music for two pianos from three countries: Israel, Lithuania, and America by living composers Weidberg, Ziv, Barkauskas, Narbutaite, Glass, and Bolcom.

Asta and Dainius Vaičekonis, as a piano duet, launched in 1997 when they moved to Seattle to study at the University of Washington. They were soloists with the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra and were the first pianists to perform in the Benaroya’s Nordstrom Recital Hall in 1998! They presented recitals in the University of Notre Dame, Western Washington University, Music Works NW, Shoreline Community College, Frye Museum and Seattle Asian Arts Museum, and Bumbershoot.

The Vaičekonis duo performed a Baltic Piano Music recital at the University of Washington, many recital programs including French Piano Duet Music as part of the Piano Series of the Shoreline Community College, Cultural Crossroads at the University of Washington, and Triple Piano Espresso for four and six hands at the Seattle Public Library.

Asta and Dainius lead active artist lives as duet and solo pianists, collaborating artists, and teachers.

About First Friday Salon
Local violinist and conductor Julia Tai curates a series of concerts we call First Friday Salons, inspired by a 19th-century tradition of informal and intimate performances at home. With the exception of January 8, 2016, these events will occur on the first Friday of each month. No stuffed-shirt event, audiences are encouraged to wear comfortable attire, bring their friends, and engage in a highly social and interactive musical experience.
