As always, our hoity-toity free approach will feature casual presentations from the stage on the history and context of the music with audience question-and-answer.
For this concert, we’ll be playing music inspired by nature, featuring the French Horn, an instrument that started out as a hunting instrument. We’ll be joined by Seattle Symphony’s Principal Horn player, Jeffrey Fair. Hear the hunt-inspired Divertimento by Haydn, Kodaly’s Duo for violin and cello based on tunes culled from folk music of rural Hungary, Liszt’s Vallee D’Obermann based on a novel about nature set in the Swiss countryside, and Gilbert Vitner’s Hunter’s Moon. The final complete work is Brahms delicious trio for Horn, Violin and Piano. Join us for an all natural, GMO-free, shade-grown evening!
