The Daphnes, led by Seattle harpist Monica Schley, are releasing their first full-length album, Braids of Kabuya. The concert will feature Ms. Schley on harp and voice; Nate Omdal (bass); Julie Baldridge (violin); Greg Campbell (percussion); Scott Adams (accordion) and Jeppa K. Hall (vocals).
Ms. Schley leads The Daphnes with compositional intricacies and a rich voice. Braids of Kabuya is an album that encompasses a mesmerizing collection of songs infused with classical, Celtic, and jazz origins. The Daphnes have a chamber jazz feeling, and feature Ms. Schley's classical harp fingerings with notable Seattle improvisors.
