Antonín Dvořák — Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, B. 178 "From the New World"
On Saturday, May 21, at 7:30pm the Eastside Symphony will feature harpist Carolyn Tanksley in a charming performance of Debussy's Danses for harp and string orchestra. You'll also experience the talent of local pianist John Lee, performing an original 21st century piece by local composer Jeffrey Taylor Ambrosia fantasy for piano and orchestra. The last half of the program is devoted to the rich melody of Dvořák's New World Symphony.

About Carolyn Tanksley, harpist
Carolyn Tanksley began playing harp at age eight under the tutelage of Frances Gilman Miller, with whom she continued her studies at St. Olaf College. Ms. Tanksley played with many orchestral, ensemble, and choral groups as a youth and won various harp competitions at the state and national level. Locally, Ms. Tanksley has studied with Pamela Vokolek, former professor at University of Washington School of Music. Ms. Tanksley rounds out her days enjoying travel, tennis, skiing, and biking adventures with her husband, Michael, who plays violin with the Eastside Symphony.
