Still a star on the rise, soprano Emily Pogorelc took Washington National Opera audiences by starring as Cunegonde in the company's 2018 staging of Bernstein's Candide while still an undergraduate at Philadelphia's Curtis Institute. A recent alumna of Lyric Opera of Chicago's prestigious Ryan Opera Center, she is currently a member of Munich's Bavarian State Opera, performing lead roles in The Marriage of Figaro, La bohème, and Gianni Schicchi. She makes her area recital debut under the auspices of Vocal Arts DC'S Gerald Perman Emerging Artists Fund in a program with pianist Chris Reynolds, featuring songs by Hugo Wolf, Lili Boulanger, and Joseph Schwantner.
