Acclaim for Elizabeth Llewellyn’s rich, vibrant voice and compelling artistry has been unanimous both for her operatic roles ranging from Verdi through Gershwin at the Metropolitan Opera and London’s English National opera and her extensive concert and recital appearances throughout Europe. Her Washington recital debut in collaboration with pianist Simon Lepper showcases selections by the biracial Victoria-era composer Samuel Coleridge Taylor, whose songs she has almost single-handedly restored to currency through an album dedicated to his works for the Orchid Classics label, described by Gramophone magazine as "irrestistible" and "arresting." The duo also includes works by Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Gustav Mahler's Ruckert-Lieder.
