Embark on a captivating musical odyssey as our winter solstice concert unfolds, presenting a harmonious fusion of masterpieces across eras. Johann Sebastian Bach's exultant Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen, BWV 51 opens the performance, its intricate Baroque tapestry weaving soprano splendor into the orchestral fabric, exuding devotion and jubilation. Transitioning seamlessly, Ellen T. Zwilich's contemporary Concerto Grosso 1985 takes the stage, a vibrant interplay between soloists and ensemble, evoking a modernistic landscape through its intricate motifs and expressive contrasts. The journey crescendos with Igor Stravinsky's Danses concertantes, where neoclassical rhythms entwine with avant-garde flair, offering a vivacious collage of dance-inspired motifs that bridge the past and present in a harmonious musical celebration.
