$30-$100 ($15-$66 wheelchair/companion)
- Seong-Jin Cho, piano
- Gianandrea Noseda, conductor
Ludwig van Beethoven — Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58
Dmitri Shostakovich — Symphony No. 5 in D minor, Op. 47
Following his concerts last season, The Washington Classical Review reported that an "aura of classical music celebrity hung about the Kennedy Center Concert Hall… when a capacity crowd turned out to hear the return of Seong-Jin Cho."
Now, he reunites with Gianandrea Noseda for a performance of Beethoven's moving and personal Piano Concerto No. 4. The program also includes an NSO co-commission by Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Carlos Simon and Shostakovich's epic Symphony No. 5, a drama of triumph over adversity shaped by the composer's own life under a totalitarian regime.
Runs Jan. 25-27.
