The Portland Guitar Society (PGS) will hold its January Monthly Meeting and open mic on Sunday, January 21 from 7pm-9 pm at Artichoke Community Music. Doors will open at 6:30pm. PGS presents a monthly meeting, free to the public, (donations are welcome) for players and listeners, providing two hours of great guitar music. It's also a nonprofit membership organization providing a friendly place to meet other players, makers, and teachers, and it's a great place to discover and share new tunes, techniques, and styles. We welcome all kinds of music and all skill levels, solo players and ensembles. Anyone needing amplification, please bring your own amp. Meetings start with open mic time and often end with a half-hour Featured Performer set.
Our January featured performer will be classical guitarist Craig Einhorn. Craig Einhorn performs a wide variety of music from various time periods and countries. He also performs original instrumentals and songs. Included is his repertoire are works for solo classical guitar from Spain, Brazil, and Argentina, as well as many other countries. Einhorn has been studying tango music and dancing since 2003.
